Assessment

A thorough assessment is an essential first step to determining where your child is at, learn about their strengths and determine goals for sessions. This usually includes parent/guardian interviews, questionnaires, informal assessment and observations. Standardized assessments may also be used as requested or needed.

Therapy

Abbey uses a play-based approach that is family centred. By utilizing your child’s strengths and interests therapy sessions will be fun and meaningful. Parent involvement is essential to helping your child communicate in all aspects of their life. Abbey may provide strategies, ideas or specific homework to use at home.

Parent Coaching

Parent coaching is a valid and evidence-based service delivery model to give parents strategies to support their child’s communication development. Parent coaching focuses on giving parents or caregivers some general suggestions rather than ones that are specific to their child.
